Asian Educators Alliance Board Members

Nishat Alikhan

​Nishat Alikhan is an experienced Lower School educator and administrator with over 15 years of experience. Currently, Nishat is a Science Specialist, teaching Science to second, third, fourth, and fifth graders. Additionally, she serves as the chair of the Lower School DEI Committee and a member of the Heads DEI Advisory. Further, she is also an active member of the Faculty Curriculum Committee and the Global Initiatives Program Committee. Outside of school, Nishat is also the President of the Los Angeles County Science & Engineering Fair and an active volunteer in the Homey Made Meals program, preparing meals for unhoused neighbors in Los Angeles.

Chris Chun

Chris has more than 30 years of education experience, teaching everything from middle school English to ceramics and aerial arts. Currently the TK-8 Division Head at The Berkeley School, Chris received her B.A. in English and Secondary Teaching Certification from the University of Maryland, continued with an M.A. in English from UC Berkeley, and completed an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Columbia University. She is proud to have attended the 2008 conference and has been organizing the AsEA national conference since the 2016 reboot. A lifelong learner, Chris is currently obsessed with the History of the English Language podcast and is still working on perfecting her handstand. Chris is looking forward to retiring in a few decades and being the garish old lady in the back of the lecture hall at the local university.
